Élodie Rousseau
Resident Artist
Nineteen years at these counters and the person who draws every commission on paper first. Trained as an illustrator before she ever held a brush over a nail, which is entirely evident in the fine-line work.

The Artists
Two resident artists, four technicians, a visiting podiatrist and Solange, who has run the appointment book since 1996 and forgets nothing.
Resident Artist
Nineteen years at these counters and the person who draws every commission on paper first. Trained as an illustrator before she ever held a brush over a nail, which is entirely evident in the fine-line work.
Resident Artist
Joined in 2018 from a studio in the 11th. Gold leaf, marbling and anything that requires an absurd degree of patience. Her deco fan set has been copied across half of Paris.
Senior Technician · Extensions
Sculpts rather than tips, and will decline to build on a nail that cannot take it. Fourteen years, and the person to see if you have ever had a set lift in week one.
Technician · Pedicures
Runs the pedicure room and does the callus work most places have quietly stopped offering. Eleven years, and the fastest salon pedicure in the house without ever cutting a corner.
Facials, Brows & Waxing
Holds the private rooms behind the partition. Ten years, a CIDESCO diploma, and a talent for talking clients out of treatments they do not need — which she does perhaps twice a week.
Visiting Podiatrist · Thursdays
In the house every Thursday for medical pedicures and anything the salon list cannot properly address. Twenty-six years in practice, and he will refer you onward without hesitation.
The Book
Grand-niece of the founder, keeper of the appointment book since 1996, and the only person permitted to move an artist's schedule. Knows what you had last time and what you said about it.
Apprentice · Third Year
Four years of training before she takes a paying client, which is how it has always been done here. Currently on hands, pedicures from the autumn, and already better at cuticle work than she believes.
The apprenticeship
No paying clients until the end of it. Apprentices work on the team, on models and on a great many practice tips, and are assessed twice a year by both resident artists rather than by the house.
Five of the eight people above came through it. We take one apprentice at a time and open the place perhaps every third year, always in September.
Model sessions are heavily discounted, take twice as long, and are always supervised.
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, by arrangement. A manicure at €18 and a pedicure at €25, on the understanding that it will take rather longer than the card suggests.
Enquire About Model DaysEnquiries
Always, and most regular clients do. Note the name in your request; Solange will tell you honestly how far out they are booked rather than quietly substituting someone else.
Élodie runs five weeks out and Anh four. Margot and Juliette are usually inside two, and Sofia's private rooms have space most weeks.
Not for anything on the card. Only commissioned artwork is priced by the artist, and always quoted before any work begins.
Rarely, and never through an agency. When we are, it is written on the card by the door before it appears anywhere else.
Or leave it to Solange, who has been matching clients to artists since 1996 and is rarely wrong.
